An easy 7km walk around the Komárov rocks + a visit to the lakeshore
- A relatively easy and flat forest walk, starting in Nová Ves close to Komárovský rybník (which provides an option for a quick swim after or before the walk)
- The trail passes through the attractive Komárov rock formations and past Drhlenský rybník
- The first section of the walk is feasible with a baby stroller, but the last section is on uneven, sometimes muddy terrain with lots of tree roots
- Total walk length is 7.2 km, which includes a short extension to the lake shore. There is only 30m of height gained/lost on the walk
- Refreshments may be available in Nová Ves, including at Černá Louže restaurant
“The sandy forest area close to Komárovský rybník is a lovely spot for a quiet and flat walk, initially through the low sandstone rocks, and then the managed woodland. The last section of the walk is on a trail above marshland – last time I was there in spring and the noise of the frogs calling a warning to each other was extraordinary”
Directions
- Start and finish the walk in the village of Nová Ves. The map shows a parking area at the end of the village, but this is now very small after construction of a building in most of the area. Parking should also be possible on the side of the road heading into the forested area (along the walking route, GREEN trail)
- From the parking area, take the GREEN trail (direction Chrby).
- After 2.3km reach the signpost (Pod Malou Sněhurkou), where you turn onto the BLUE trail
- After 500m on the BLUE trail join the yellow marked cycle path
- After a further 100m, leave the BLUE trail and follow just the yellow cycle path, reaching Drhlenský rybník after 1.2km
- Turn right (heading northwest) on the YELLOW trail along the rybník, and through the marsh area [note this last section will be difficult to navigate with a baby stroller]
- After 1.6km reach the Nová Ves parking area. A recommended short extension would be to visit the lake shore (either at the start or end of the walk) by taking the GREEN trail used at the start of the walk and turning off to the left after 200m towards the lake. The trail leads along the lakeshore to the campsite, where there is a swimming area
