Kavčiny is a small rock castle located a few hundred metres to the south of the larger Valdštejn castle. Kavčiny was probably constructed to guard the southerly approach to Valdštejn, in the 14th-15th centuries. It may never have been completed. Today, it is a tranquil spot, located off the main tourist trail, but is easily accessed using an unmarked trail located to the right a few metres after the U Kavčin signpost, which is found on the main trail between Valdštejn and Hrubá Skála.
