Prachovské skály (Prachov rocks)

Prachovské skály are probably the most famous and most photographed of the Český ráj ‘rock cities’. The extraordinary individual pillars have attracted tourists and climbers for over two centuries. The Emperor even gave his name to one of the step sections, on a visit in the early 19th century.
The Prachov rocks have more individual pillars of sandstone than other rock cities, due to the advanced state of erosion of the sandstone plateau in this area of Český ráj. Throughout the main rock area – which is a separate park requiring an entrance payment – there are excellent information panels in English/Czech outlining the geology and history of the rocks.
There is also an excellent English language information site about the Prachovské skály.
